EXCEL - saves a backup copy automatically

Have an EXCEL spreadsheet that makes a backup copy every time I save and exit. How to disable this option?

    1) click SAVE AS

    2) browse to location to save file

    3) next to the SAVE button click Tools

    4) select General Options

    5) uncheck Always create backup and click OK

    6) click SAVE and overwrite existing file
